The day in between is the part that needs designing
Most alternate-day arrangements fail on the non-service day rather than the service day. Food waste in a desk-side bin, a kitchen sink left overnight and a washroom that runs out of consumables are the three complaints that appear reliably, and none of them is solved by doing more on the day the cleaner attends. They are solved by changing what happens in between.
The usual answers are practical rather than clever, and none of them costs anything. Consolidating waste into a small number of central bins that staff use directly, removing food waste from desk-side bins altogether, and holding a visible stock of washroom consumables that anyone in the office can replace will between them remove the great majority of the problem. They simply have to be agreed and written down rather than assumed.
